Nehemiah 8.1-3, 5-6, 8-10
In a land where the people convened,
With a scroll that was read, hearts were gleaned.
They stood with great awe,
As they heard every law,
And their joy in the truth was redeemed.
With voices that rose to the skies,
They wept as they grasped the wise ties.
Yet a feast was proclaimed,
For their hearts were inflamed,
In the joy of the Lord, they would rise! -
Nehemiah 8.1-4a [5-6], 8-12
The people of Israel gathered near
To hear the Law that God made clear
They read it with joy
And kept it in coy
For they knew it was held most dear -
Nehemiah 8.10
A book of laws was read with care,
The people rejoiced and shouted in prayer.
For the joy of God’s word was so great,
That the people could not help but celebrate.
So they praised the Lord with all their might,
To follow his ways was their delight!
