There once was a group of eleven,
Who sought to replace the one leaven.
They chose Matthias to take his place,
And spread the good news with grace,
Their numbers were again even.

There was a man named Peter so bold
Who preached the good news, truth be told
The Holy Spirit came down
On all who were around
And they spoke in tongues, young and old

There once were disciples of Christ
Who asked when the kingdom would rise
But Jesus replied
It’s not for you to decide
Just go and be my witnesses, nice!

There once was a man from afar
Who was reading the Bible by star
He met a eunuch one day
And helped him find his way
To understand scripture, not just par.

There once were some men of great power
Who questioned a healing one hour
They asked by what name
This miracle came
And were told it’s through Jesus’ strong tower

There once was a man who was lame
But Peter and John, in Jesus’ name
Told him to rise up and walk
And to repent and not mock
For the Lord’s mercy is not just a game

In the early church, they were one
Sharing all they had, getting things done
No one claimed their possessions
They lived in harmony and blessings
Their generosity shone like the sun

A church was formed by the Lord’s grace
And His followers met in this place
They devoted their time
To learning divine
And shared all things with a warm embrace

A church in Antioch, so grand
It had a great following in the land
The Lord’s hand was seen
When the gospel was shared in between
The Gentiles and Jews, a new strand

The Holy Spirit came down one day
The Apostles were filled with dismay
But soon they began to speak
In languages so unique
And the crowd was filled with awe and dismay.
